MUSICAL FESTIVAL.

The local Salvation Army Hall was crowded last night with an appreciative audience on the occasion of the musical festival by the Levin corps band and orchestra, who provided the programme in aid of the local corps band fund. The interior of the hall and platform were artistically decorated. Ensign and Captain Huston opened the proceedings and the chair was occupied by Mr Hornblow, who in a short speech referred to the important part the band played in the Army’s work and spoke of the hand’s efforts by liberally coutution in the town. He paid a tri-. mite to Air Seollay’s enthusiasm as bandmaster and hoped the public would show their appreciation of the band’s eeorts by liberally contributing to the funds. The programme consisted of a number of baud and orchestral selections, which reflected credit upon both performers and conductor. Recitations were given by Aliss Pollock, solos by Airs Captain Hoare, duet by Captain and Mrs Hoare, mandolin duet by Air and Miss Pollock, violin solo, Aliss Melton, duet by Ah' and Aliss Pollock, instrumental <iuarletle by bandsmen and other items. The National Anthem followed by the Benediction brought a very happy time to a close. Air Scollay, on behalf of the Band thanked the Levin Baud and contributors to the programme, Airs Walls for use of piano, Air Hunt for limber and the ladies for providing refreshments.

At .the conclusion every one in the audience received a bag containing refreshments and a eup of tea. The entertainment, following on the well-attended harvest festival meetings of the previous day, was one of the most successful yet held in connection with the Army’s local operations and credit is due to all who assisted to make the affair such a success.
