ROYAL THEATRE. SINGING COMPETITIONS FOR ALL * To-night Mr Abel Rowe will hold a singing competition at the Royal Theatre. “Let the Rest of the World go By, for adults, and “Do I? Yes I Do,” for children are the competition songs. There are three separate competitions: one for ladies, one for gentlemen, and one for children of either sex. We understand that it is likely that community singing will he held every week in future, particulars of which will be given later. On Friday night Frank Keenan will appear in “The Master Man,” and the prizes Avon for singing will be distributed. On Saturday night the great super production, “Kismet,” will be shown. Community singing Avith news songs a special feature of Saturday night’s programme. “Kismet” is a story of Bagdad, the beautiful, that Avill carry you into the land of fairy tales. ANOTHER ZANE GREY STORY ON THE SCREEN. “THE LAST TRAIL.” This fine story, written by one of the most popular authors of the day Avill be screened at the Town Hall to-morrow night, under the banner of Wm. Fox. One of the most striking and exciting scenes in this production is the breaking of a huge dam and the flooding and destruction of a village in the valley below. The story itself, circling round hidden treasure, is most entrancing, and Ave can safely say that if the picture is as good as the book “The Last Trail” should enjoy a packed house. The prices for admission are 1/- and 1/6, plus tax, children at usual prices, Id and fid. The Toavii Ilall Orchestra Avill accompany the picture. A preliminary announcement is made of the advent of “One Week of Love,” noAv showing in ‘Wellington. This picture Avill be screened early in March. QUEEN CARNIVAL DANCE. Miss Belle Pearson has been selected as Foxton’s candidate in the Oroua Doaviis carnival queen contest. A dance will be held in aid of the candidate in the Masonic Hall on Monday evening next. G'ood supper. Admission: Gents 2/-, ladies 1/-. At a later date an entertainment will he gh r en at the Royal for the same object.
