TRAGIC DEATH.

MARRIED WOMAN DROWNED.

A tragic; affair was reported to Ihe Palmerston police yesterday, when the body of a married woman, Mrs Elizabeth Freeman, was discovered in the Manawatu river. Deceased was the wife of Mr Chas. Fraemau, resident at 89 Grey St. She seemed in her usual health last evening, and went to visit some relations, returning home at a late hour. On rising.this morning, however, her husband missed her, and as she had not returned after breakfast, he immediately informed the police that she was missing. Ho later received the tragic information that the body of Mrs Freeman had been discovered in the Manawatu river by Mr ITeatley, of Soandia street, about 7 a.m. The deceased was about 53 years of age and had not been previously known to approach the river from Soandia street.
