VALEDICTORY.

At the afternoon tea adjournment on the local bowling green yesterday a presentation in the fftnn of a wallet containing a substantial sum, was made to Mr F. D. Whibley, who is leaving the district. The President, in making the presentation referred to Mr WhibIcy’s ten years’ connection with the club and the keen interest displayed by him in bowling. He had occupied positions in the club as committee man, secretary, treasurer, and nresident, each of which he filled with credit. Mr Whibley had proved a good sport and one of the best bowlers in the club.

Mr Whibl'ey. in reply, thanked liis fellow howlers tor their kind gift and the spirit that prompted it and referred to the manv happy days he l ad spent on the green. Foxton may not have the best green in the country but there was no doubt that the club was popular and howlers from Foxton were welcomed in any part where a bowling-green existed. He referred to the many lights he had taken part in for the Club and had the honour of representing it on the only occasion on which they were successful in winning the much coveted Dixon Cup. He regretted very much severing his connection with the Foxton Bowling Club and extended a welcome to bowlers to visit himjn his new town. Three cheers were given for the departing bowler.
