BOWLING
A match for the Nye Ferns was played yesterday afternoon, and proved a very interesting game. A. I gusty wind made judgment difficult, ] but nevertheless some good play i resulted. The holders were sucj cessful in retaining the trophies by the narrow margin of one point. The rinks and scores are as follows: — Howe, Thomson, Jno. Ross, Roore (s), holders, 19: D. Whibley, Walker. Pearson, Nye (s), challengers, 18: The following rink have posted a challenge:—Downes, Barr, Walker, Bryant (s). The following new members were elected at a meeting of the Bowling Club committee last evening:—Messrs J, Linklater, W. Howe, J. Thomson, F. Spiers, S. Head. It was decided to hold a pairs tournament on the local green on, Christmas Day, commencing at 10 a.in., and following two days. .
