STATE SCHOOL.

PARENTS DAY AXD PRIZE GIVING. The scholars of the local State school will cany out a similar programme to that observed last year on Wednesdav next, between the hours of 2.30 and 3.30. Parents are invited to see the scholars at work in the class-rooms. A charge number of parents availed themselves of this priviledge last year and a cordial welcome awaits them this year. On Tuesday afternoon, the 19th, the infants will be specially catered to j* with g. *ts from tno Chiistmas tree under the supervision of a real live Father Christmas. On Wednesday afternoon, 20th inst, at. 1.45 p.m., the breaking-up and prize-giving ceremony will takeplace in the Town Hall. Several items will be contributed by the scholars. Now, we desire to make an appeal to a generous public to assist the committee financially. The prizes and other gifts for the children will cost about £2O and the committee has no fund for this purpose. Already several have promised and donated varying amounts and donations will be thankfully received and may be paid to the chairman of committee or to Air G. Coley or the headmaster. The school staff and children will hold a school shop day at an early date to assist the committee to meet it> outstanding debts before the close of its financial year.
