STATE OF THE PARTIES.
IN THE LAST PARLIAMENT. After the 1919 election the state of parties in the House was as follows : Reform 47 Liberal IS Labour 8 Independent 4 Independent Labour 9 At the by-elections the Reform Party gained one -Cat. the Liberals lost one, and Labour gained a seat from an Independent Labour member who had thrown in his lot with the Liberals. On the eve of the election the state of the parties may lie put as follow.-: — Reform 4<S Liberals 15 Labour 9 Independent Liberal .... G Independent Reform .... 2 There are 197 candidates nominal ed for 7(1 European seats, and an analysis of the nominations shows that the different parties are represented in the General Election by the following number of candidates : Reform ••• •. ~3 Independent Reform ....
