SPRING SHOW.

A SIT'CKSSI'TL EX HIBITION. The local Ilorlieutluru! Society’s spring show held in the Town Hall on Thursday ami yesterday, was a success from every point of view and the committee including the energetic secretary (Mr if. Frank-lalnl)-and president (KeV. W. WillIon) are to he congratulated upon their efforts to popularise these educational exhibitions. The show this year was conlined practically to- local growers. Kxhibits from outside districts in the past have been a pleasing feature of the show but this year was an exception. The entries by local growers, however, increased and the exhibits lor all round quality would be difficult to surpass, in the cut bloom sections Mesdames A. S. Easton, Galland, and Kenton were not represented this year. Mrs Me Murray, the previous winner of the Citizens trophy in the sweet pea section was again successful this year and is to be congratulated upon her tine displays .Mrs P. Easton was another successful exhibitor and was run-ner-tip in this section. Miss O. Nye i- another consistent exhibitor in the cut bloom sections and annexed the points prize for various and the champion rose bloom. The cookery section was again a fine feature and Miss H. Skellen again retains pride of place in exhibitions of (lie culinary art. Special mention must be made of the excellence of the school work which relleets credit upon the local school staff and scholars, the plasticene modelling surpassing anything previously exhibited in this connection. Pressure of space prevents a more detailed account of this year’s show, but we endorse all the encomiuns passed upon the exhibits by thu public. The tea rooms were in the capable hands of Mr- Pearson and a capable stall of helper-. The winners of the point- prizes were as follows: — Pot Plants; Mrs MeMurray: Cut Bloom- (various) : Mi-s O. Nye; Roses: Miss 0. Nye; Sweet Peas: Mr.- MeMurray; Fruit: Miss O. Nye; Vegetables: Mrs -J. Andrews: Dairy Produce: Mrs Fowler; Cookery: Miss H. Skellen; Cookery I children 15 and under) : Lylla Rob-in.-on; Cookery (children 15 to IS wars) : Miss 6. Procter: Home Indus! ries : Mrs J.
