BOGUS CANVASSER.
GAOL FOR TWELVE MONTHS Auckland, November 8.
At the Supreme Court, Edward Calvert was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment with hard labour on each of six charges of being a rogue and vagabond in that lie obtained money by falsely representing he was authorised to collect for the Blind Institute. For attempting to escape from a police cell at Maungaturoto he was sentenced to three months from the expiry of the previous term.
