BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY.
At the committee meeting held in the Presbyterian sohool-room on .Monday evening last there were present:—Mesdames Me Murray. Pearson. Moore, Mi.-s Spoil’s, Messr- Perreau (in the chair). Chrvstnll, Symons, Christie, Trueman, Admore and Robertson. Apologies for absence were received from Mrs Robinson. Mrs P. Easton, and Rev. Walton. Accounts amounting to .£39 7s (Id were passed for payment. The chairman reported that the iron gate for Ihakara Gardens had arrived. The deputation that had boon appointed waited on the council at its last meeting and had been granted £lO towards maintenance. The question of laying the water on to tlie Gardens and Easton Park was held over for the present. The necessity for having the water for litis summer was emphasised. It was decided to advertise for lenders for a caretaker. The necessity for buildings on Easton Park for the use of sports clubs was again discussed, and it was ngroed to ask the council to move the shed from the hack of the council room to Easton Park. The next meeting on Monday, November 27th, is to he ;i general meeting.
