THE LOCAL PORT.

INCREASED STEAMER SERVICE. We are reliably informed that there is a probability of the Canterbury Shipping Co. putting two steamers on the Foxton 'sendee to trade between Omnnru, Tiinaru, Lyttelton and Foxton. Air Alillward intends to visit the port next week in company with Captain Alunro and will confer with the Harbour Board re shed accommodation, and other details. Yesterday Air Alillward interviewed a number of Palmerston merchants and business men in connection with cargoes and will pay a brief visit to Foxton this afternoon.
