J The amount of gas manufactured j during the month of August was 519,500c.ft., which with the amount, in the holder on August Ist., ft. made a total of 528,500c.ft. During the month 447,700 ft. wereused by consumers, 24,000 ft. in street lamps, 27,000 ft. at the works and there was 9,000c.ft. in the holder on September Ist., making a total of 507,400 ft. and leaving 21,100 ft., i-epresenting 4.7 per cent, unaccounted for. Forty-eight tons of coal were carbonised during the month, yielding 10,820c.ft. to the ton. The earnings for the month totalled £314 11s Id, and was made up as follows: —Gas sales (lighting-) £l4l 6s 3d, heat and- power £133 11s 4d, coke sales £lO 14s sd, tar sales £6 0s sd, fittings £2l 19s 3d, labour fittings 13s 9d, miscellaneous Is, xx total of £314 11s Id. The expenditure for the month totalled £320 0s 2d, and was made up as follows: —Coal £ll7 3s lOd, salaries and wages £G6 17s 2d, services 2s fid, fittings £ls 7s 2d, meter repairs £2B 0s 9d, uexv meters £24 11s Bd, engine repairs £1 2s Od, working expenses 13s 9d, callage and fi-eight 15s 6d, retorts £5 14s 2d, interest and sinking fund £59 11s 8(1, a total of £320 Os 2d. The gas manager reported that the apparatus has worked well axi<tbe hud been able to keep up a good supply of gas. He expected to be using ihe new setting next week-as it is now thox-oiTghly dry. Several leaks have been found in the sti-eets during the last three or four months, which has made a decrease in unaccounted for gas. About 100 loads of coal was received during the month and a good supply was now on hand. —Received.
