OBITUARY.
The death occurred at the Palmerston North hospital on Tuesday of Mi- C. F. Spiers, a well-known resident of Foxton for nearly 30 years and formerly of Karori, Wellington at the age of 56. The late Mr Spiers was a well-known figure locally and took a great interest in any movement for the advancement of the town. During the influenza epidemic he rendered yeoman service and many have cause to be grateful for his help in that distressing time. He was also a member of All Saints’ vestry and took a keen interest in the work of the church. He was a single man and is survived by both his parents, five brothers and one sister. His father is a native of New Zealand, being one of the first white children born in the Dominion. The funeral will take place to-morrow- (Friday) leaving the residence of deceased’s brother, Mr F. Spiers, Ravensworth Place at 1.30 p.m. for All Saints Church and thence to the Foxton cemetery.
