BOWLING.
A “working bee” carried out good work on the local green yesterday afternoon until interrupted by the rain. The application of liquid blood manure was completed, and the greens under this treatment are showing a marked improvement. From now on constant attention will be necessary if the green is to be in good order for the proposed opening- date, three weeks hence. It is hoped that members' will give all assistance possible in .this connection. Those in attendance at the green yesterday were, regaled with afternoon tea by members of the Croquet Club, a favour which was much appreciated. The annual general meeting of the Croquet Club was held in the Bowling pavilion yesterday afternoon. There was a good attendance of members. The usual business of election of president, secretary and committee was earned out, a report of which will appear next issue. The secretary of the local club has received an invitation from the Levin Club, intimating that Foxton be represented by one rink at their opening, which takes place on Saturday 30th September.
