FINANCIAL STATEMENT
LABOUR AMENDMENT DEFEATED. Members of the House of Representatives divided early on Thursday afternooon on the Labour amendment on the Financial Statement. The amendment, which suggested that the Government had lost the confidence of the House by permitting unemployment to continue while the Treasury contained surplus funds, was defeated by 52 votes to 13. Hamilton, Harris, Hawken, Henare, Henries, Hockly, Horn, Hudson, Hunter, Isitt, Jones, Lee, Luke, Lysnar, M'Leod, M‘Nieol, Mackenzie, Malcolm, Mander, Massey, Masters, Mitchell, Nash, A. K. Newman, E. Newman, Ngata, Nosworthy, Parr, Potter, Reed, Sir Heaton Rhodes, T. AY. Rhodes, R. A\ r . Smith, Stewart, Sykes, AA’illiams, Young.
