BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY
At the committee meeting of the Beautifying Society, held on Monday, Mr Poole’s resignation was accepted with regret and Mr Robertson was elected to fill the vacancy. An iron gate was to be ordered for the old cemetery. The Rev. Frank McDonald was elected a member of the society. The chairman (Mr Perreau) reported that the contractor had made a start with the steps and paths in the old cemetery. The question of using Easton Park this season for games was discussed and the necessity of a pavilion. A notice of motion to amend the rules was given, in order that the society may use part of its funds for this purpose. A sub-committee was appointed to draw up a schedule of duties for a caretaker and this was to be submitted at next meeting.
