LABOUR PARTY ATTACKED

Mr D. Jones (Kaiapoi) speaking on the Financial Debate on Wednesday evening said that the working man was much better off under the present Government than he would possibly be under a Labour Government. The present Government had been criticised for not dealing with unemployment, but when the position was not nearly so bad the Liberal Government was unable to deal with it. He said that the Labour Party had been very silent this session because it was endeavouring to get the Public Service vote. Mr Holland was a follower of Karl Marx, the German .Jew. Mr Fraser: “He’s better than a Welshman.” Mr Jones: “] have no doubt tlie lion, member would consider a German Jew better than any Englishman.” Mr Fraser: “You have German Jews in England running the eountr.v. You would have to wipe out Buckingham Palace.” Mr Jones said that Lenin was a disciple of Karl Marx, and the system of Socialism in operation in Russia was the only system that could he adopted. Socialisation of means of production, distribution, and exchange would menu that all the land would go into the common fund, with all the savings of the people invested in mortgage, in insurance policies, in (lie Public Trust and in the Post Office Savings Bank. He challenged the Labour Party to go out and give these facts to the people. Mr Holland: “We’ll give them the facts about the Kaiapoi boundaries.”

Mr Jones said the Labour Government. in Queensland had reduced Public Service pay, and the New South A Yales Labour Government when in office had been unable to deal with unemployment. Mr Jones concluded by saying that the Labour Party in the House was endeavouring to cover up the facts. Mr Howard: “Are they gerrymandering?” Mr Jones: “I say that the greatest corruption, the greatest gerrymandering ever perpetrated or attempted in this country was when the leaders of the Liberal and Labour Parties proposed to buy and sell thousands of votes.”

Mr Holland: “AA r as it greater corruption than in Kaiapoi?” Mr Jones said that his constituents came to him for advice. He gave them his advice, and they took the action they chose. His action was .perfectly constitutional. He denied that he had been to the Representation Commissioners himself or that he knew them personally.
