GRAVE CHARGES PREFERRED,

Auckland, Last Night. As the result of the death of a female child on a launch on the Whau river, on August 6, immediately after birth, the mother, aged 15 years and ten months, was charged at the Police Court with having omitted to perform or observe a legal duty, that resulted in the death of the child. A youth aged 22, Cecil Nathanial Williams, was charged with unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under 16 years. Counsel said the parties had since been married. Both cases were remanded till Thursday.
