DIXIE TROUBADORS
TOWN HALL, .TUESDAY NEXT.
Til Li bright, and popular showi is appearing at tlie Town Hail on Tuesday night. The Auckland “Star” writes as follows on the performance given recently in the Town Hall Concert Chamber at Auckland: —The programme opened with a lively ehorous followed by "a full Minstrel iirst part: During the whole performance Mr Jolly John Larkins, who has been described as the “Rajah of Mirth,” fully justified this appropriate title. Mr Irving Steele showed- cleverness by his versatile work, and his song, “Simon the Cellarer,” demanded several encores; The sisters Hawthorne were recalled time and again and lived up to their reputation as the “Harmony Girls.” The'character sketches by Don Wallace were amusing, but the best number was undoubtedly the monologue entitled “The Shooting of Dan McGrew.” His delivery was excellent. Miss Violet Hawthorne, a Jan Clierniavski pupil, followed with piano selections and they'were a treat to listen to. The “Dixie (Quartette” in various character numbers with their effective costumes played a most important part in the evening’s entertainment and was a distinctive
novel turn. The programme terminated with an uproarious scream--1 ingly funny comedy entitled “That New Man” in which Mr Larkins supplies rediculously funny antics. Don’t miss this splendid entertainment. Dad bring mother; mother bring the kiddies.
