SALVATION ARMY.

A very successful social gathering and “send off” to Lieutenant Queree Avas held in the Army Hall on Tuesday night. Despite the inclement weather there was a good attendance of the public. Mr HoxubloAV occupied the chair, and referred to the self-sacrificing work of Captain Fraser and her departing junior officer. The good wishes of the public would follow Lieutenant Queree in her new sphere of action in Otalnihu. The Army Band under Bandmaster Seollay and assisted by Messrs Betty and Walls played several selections during the evening. The following contributed acceptable items, all of which were Avell received: —Pianoforte solo, Miss Patterson, song Miss Barker; instrumental quartette, Messrs Walls, Brown, Tongs and Seollay; flute solo, Mr Moorman; vocal quartette, Mesdames Downes and Osborne and Messrs King and Bangs; song, Mrs Downes; instrumental duet, Messrs Betty and Walls; vocal quartette, Captain Fraser and Lieutenant Queree and Messrs Tongs and SeoJJay; recitations, Miss Barker and n cleverly manipulated selection on a mouth organ and autoharp by Mr Tongs. Captain Fi-aser thanked the'chairman for his remarks and all avlio assisted in the function and specially thanked Mrs Walls for the loan of the piano. Refreshments were handed round at the close.
