BANQUET TO MR ED. NEWMAN, M.P.
BIG REFORM RALLY. The valedictory banquet to be tendered -to Mr Edward Newman, M.P., l,y the Reform supporters in this constituency, on Monday next, will be the largest political gathering yet held in this constituency. The Prime Minister, members of Cabinet, Legislative Councillors and M.’sP. have accepted an invitation to be present to do honour to the guest. The banquet will take place in the Masonic Hall at 6 p.m. In oi’der to afford an opportunity to Mr Newman’s friends, who are unable to attend the banquet, to participate in the function, the proceedings will be continued in the Town Hall at 8 p.m. Mr Gordon Eliott, Chairman of the Manawatu Reform executive, will preside and the speakers will include the Prime Minister, members of Cabinet and others. The Mayor (Mr-John Chrystall) will extend a welcome to the Ministerial Party to Foxton on behalf of the citizens. As it is anticipated that the Town Hall accommodation will be taxed to its utmost, the circle will he reserved for ladies and their escorts.
