HURRICANE AT UTIKU.

TOWN HALL AND DWELLINGS WRECKED. Wellington, July 2. At 1.30 o’clock on Saturday, a. hurricane of 30 minutes’ duration passed over the Tnihape district, wrecking many buildings at Utiku. The town hall was blown into a mass, of wreckage, and a piano in the building was smashed to pieces. Messrs Gibbs Bros.’ factory was blown down and extensive damage done (o stock. At least ten houses were unroofed, and many chimneys crashed to the ground and trees were .also uprooted. The gale was confined to a narrow strip and cleared everything in its way. Tnihape was not damaged.
