A FEMALE THIEF.

TWELVE MONTHS’ IMPRISONMENT. Invercargill, Last Night. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day Christena Dawson, alias Mary Dawsou, an elderly woman, with 186 previous convictions for various offences, was sentenced to a year’s imprisonment for the theft of goods from shops. The charge related to eleven premise's, the goods being valued at £46. The evidence showed that the police l-emoved from the accused’s house drapery and other .goods to the value of £IOO. Some of it had not yet been claimed. The Borough Council by-laws committee has completed its task after'numerous sittings and the revised by-laws will be printed at an early date.
