BOROUGH COUNCIL
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers last night. •*- CORRESPONDENCE, was read and dealt with as follows: From Foxton School Committee asking that the Council forgo the sanitation charge of £9 7s. Decided that the sum of £4 5s be remitted to the School Committee provided the account is paid on or before the 31st July, 1922. From Mr H. Berry making application for permission to cut down trees between the cemetery and reserve, the latter at present being leased by him, as the trees keep the sun off a good portion of land this time of the year.—Permission was granted to lop overalinging branches only. From Mr W. E. Riddle enclosing plan and specifications of a building he. proposes to erect, on his section in Whyte Street, and making application for a building permit. —Granted. From the Hutt Countj’ Coucil offering a surplus of 443 feet of Gin Mannesman steel pipes at 4/- per ft, f.o.b.. —Received. From the Foxton Branch of the N.Z. Labour Party enclosing the following resolution: “That this meeting of the Foxton Labour Party Branch desires to record its protest against the action of the majority of the Council in refusing to allow the use of the Municipal Hall for the purpose of a lecture by Mr II E. Holland, M.P., on a Sunday evening as contained in a letter by (lie Town Clerk, andj. further, protests against revenue being driven away from a Municipal enterprise to suit the* political mews of the majority of the Council. —Received.
