CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
QUARTERLY MEETING.
The quarterly meeting of the above was held on Tuesday eveninp, presided over by Air A. N. *■ Smith (president). There were also present:—Alessrs Follas, Heaseman, Adinore, Pearson, Christie, and the secretary (Air Roore Rangiheuea). Apologies for absence were received from several bers .
Correspondence was received from he Prime Minister, Right Hon. Air Alassey, acknowledging the receipt of resolution endorsing the Government’s action re affiliation of the P. and T. Association with the Alliance of Labour.
The secretary of the P. and T. Association wrote enclosing a copy of “The Katipo” setting forth the association’s point of view re affiliation. —Received.
The subject of interesting setters to link up with the local telephone bureau by means of party lines was again discussed and the president and secretary were instructed to draft a circular letter on the subject to be forwarded to the settlers.
It was resolved to again approach the local stationmaster re placing heaters in the Foxton-Pal-merston carriages and to recommend that the time-table be amended so that evening trains leave Palmerston, daily at 4.33 p.m., arriving at Foxton at 6.15 p.m.
