SOCIAL
A social was held in the Town Hall Supper-room yesterday afternoon, organised by the All Saints Ladies Guild with the object of supplementing the Church Funds. There was a fair attendance. . Wares were offered from three stalls, the respective goods being cakes, produce and needle work. The two former sold out completely.
Keen interest was taken in the competitions with the following results: —Nail driving, Airs Owen; followed very closely by Mrs Sid. Easton: Menu competition, won by Mrs Cunninghame, the prize being a photo album donated by Mr Chritie; Cake guessing (fruit). This was productive of a most unusual result, wo ladies guessing the exaet weight (41l)s. 40z.). They were Mrs Robertson and M'iss Lorna Robinson: Cake guessing (choc, sponge) won by Miss Grace Robinson.
Musical items were rendered by the following:—Miss Y. Easton, Mrs Freeman, and Miss Tv. Green. Altogether a very pleasant afternoon was passed and much credit is due to those responsible. The takings amounted to very nearly £lfi. There is no doubt that many of the older members of the guild felt very keenly the absence of their president Mrs A. S. Easton, who for years has been such a pi'ominent figure at these functions; On a,ll sides one heard expression's of regret emphasising the deepest svmpathy with Mrs Easton in her illness.
