WATER AND DRAINAGE.
I ENGINEER’S REPORT,
At last..'night’s Council meeting the Borough Engineer (Mr King) reported as follows: — ■ Water Tower. —The floor of the tank and the cone have been concreted.
Artesian Wells.—The contractor has now completed all the wells. Water Pipe Laying. —The newly appointed foreman has commenced work, the portion of mains cgnnecting the tower to the town being in hand.
Septic and Collecting- Tanks. — The excavation for the collecting tank is nearly complete and the work of concreting the floor will be commenced this week. / Connecting Artesian Wells.—This work has been commenced and the wells have been out down to their correct levels. Four Inch Water Mains. —As directed tenders have been called for the supply and delivery of the 4in. mains required to complete the reticulation of the Borough. Tenders close on the 20th May. • Cr. Thompson said hat ,it ha(K come to his ears that the caulkiitgr was not being done altogether by the foreman. He'had heard that his assistant had been doing a considerable amount of that work. Cr Rand said that be had also heard that said. His informant was . quite willing to come to the Council and prove his statement. Mr King said that the information was absolutely incorrect. He himself had supervised most of the jointing done so far. The report- was adopted.
