ASSAULT ON CONSTABLE.

ACCESSED committed for TRIAL. Auckland Yesterday. As the outcome of a constable being injured' while, endeavouring to arrest two men on March 4th, William Nathaniel Pamplin (36) was charged with having assaulted a constable while in the execution of his duty, and caused Constable McKay grievous bodily harm. The constable, who was still weak, and obviously suffering from after-ef-fects of a severe concussion, stated that he had no recollection of the assault. Am eye-witness said the accused appeared to be fairly under the influence of drink. The accused pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial.
