BOWLING.
A number of rinks representing the Wanganui Bowling Centre paid a. visit to Palmerston North on Thursday, and played several rinks with the Manawatu Centre, on the Palmerston North Club’s green, in the morning, and again on the afternoon. The result was a decisive win for the local rinks, although some of the games provided very close finishes, one resulting in a draw.
Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., president of the Manawatu Centre, extended a hearty welcome to the visitors, and in the course of his remarks said it was Mnnnwatu’s desire to see such visits made more frequently than in the past. This centre was doing much in fostering visits between the two centres, and Wanganui and Manawatu would, he said, meet each year in the future. The morning games resulted: — Total points: Manawatu 165, Wanganui 127. The afternoon games resulted: — Total points: Manawatu 104, Wanganui 141. The grand totals for the day’s play were therefore: —Manawatu 329 points, Wanganui 2CB.
