SHACIvLETON’S FUNERAL SHIP Monte Video, Feb. 18. • V>v ~ The steamer Woodville has sailed, bearing the late Sir Ernest Shackleton’.s body. A warship escorted the vessel to sea, firing a salute.. : FUNERAL SERVICE. London, Feb. 15. Monte Video reports state that after the State ceremony, the body of Sir Ernest Shackleton was conveyed to the whaler Woodville, exservicemen acting as pallbearers. a The British Charge d’Affaires, English officials, and a number of people from Buenos Aires followed the remains. The funeral service was read in the English Church. The coffin, which was covered with .a Union Jack, was a rough wooden one, inscribed “Ernest Henry „? Shackleton, died ' 5/1/22.” There were wreaths from his wife and family, the Uruguayan Government, and Shackleton’s mother.
