BOWLING
Local bowlers were very pleased on Saturday evening when it was learned that Nye’s rink had been successful in securing the Manson and Barr Cup in their match against Spooner’s Manawatu rink on Saturday afternoon. The „ trophy is at present on view in Mr Healey’s shop window. The scores throughout the game were close, and the figures were even on several heads. On the fifteenth head the score was 12 all; on the sixteenth Manawatu added another point to their total, and on the seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth heads Foxton notched 2,2, and 1 respectively, making the score 18 —16 in favour of Foxton, with two heads to go. Manawatu made. 3 on the next head, and Foxton one on the final, the scores then being Foxton 18, Manawatu 16. The following are the teams: — D. Whibley Hunter Juo. Ross Brown Roore Radford W. Nye (s) 18 Spooner (s) 16 Shannon has the next challenge in for the Manson and Barr Cup, and a match will be played to-mor-row week. A match for the Nye Ferns will be played this evening, the teams being as follows: — Holders.—D. Whibley, Healey, McColl, Nye (s). Holders. —Betty, Huntley, F. D. Whibley, Roore (s). The following are the teams selected to represent the local Club tomorrow against Levin, at Foxton, in the Pennant competition: — Healey, Christie, Roore, F. Whibley (s). Ross, McColl, Bryant, Nye (s). Emergencies: Walker and D. Whibley. Bowlers are requested to bring a basket to assist with the afternoon tea.
