STATUTORY HALF-HOLIDAY.

WEDNESDAY AGAIN DECIDED UPON. At last night’s Council meeting it was decided that Wednesday be set aside as the day for the statutory half-holiday for Foxton. The Mayor, in speaking to the motion, said he considered Wednesday preferable to Saturday for a half-holiday. Saturday was observed by some 30 cities and boroughs in the Dominion, while Wednesday and Thursday by 48 to 50. Cr. Walker said lie thought the half-holiday being on Wednesday made a pleasant break in the week. # Cr. Smith said that as a business man he would support the motion. Saturday was the best trading day. The motion was carried, Or. Rand only voting against it.
