THE STRANDED KENNEDY

POSSIBLY RE-FLOATED TO-

NIGHT

Owing to the rough weather yesterday, it was found impossible to make arrangements to refloat the Kennedy, which went ashore while attempting to negotiate the bar inwards on Tuesday morning, in the teeth of a southerly gale. The vessel was nose on to the beach, and was safe from the buffeting of the waves. At low tide the fore part was out of the water. It is not‘anticipated that any damage or straining has been caused.

This morning, the weather having abated, Mr Signal was able to put out a deep sea anchor in readiness for refloating operations on tonight’s tide. In the meantime the vessel will be lightered of her cargo. There is eveyy prospect of the vessel being successfully re-floated.
