VALEDICTORY.
A very pleasant little ceremony took place at the residence of the Club’s secretary last night, wlien the stewards of the Foxton Racing Club presented Dr. Mandl, club surgeon, for the past 14 years, with a handsome pair of binoculars, suitably inscribed, as a token of esteem. Mr W. E. Barber, vice-pre-sident, in the absence of the president, presided and made the presentation, and expressed regret at the Doctor’s departure. Among those present were Mr F. Robinson, patron, Dr. Wylie and D. R. Ogiivie, Esq. (Club auditor). In making the presentation, Mr Barber referred to the keen interest the guest had taken in the Club’s welfare. Messrs Jewell, Bryant and 11. Coley also endorsed the Chairman’s remarks. Dr. Mandl suitably replied, and wished (lie Club continued success. The health of the guest was drunk in bumpers. A most enjoyable evening was brought to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.
