GOVERNOR-GENERAL’S VISIT.
LOCAL ARRANGEMENTS
A meeting of the Committee set up by the Borough Council to make arrangements for the reception of the Governor-General, on the occasion of his visit to Foxton on the 28th inst., was held in the Council Chambers on Thursday night. , It was decided that the Governor and party be entertained at luncheon at Whyte’s Hotel. It was resolved to invite the'mem|,er for the district (Mr Ed. Newman), the Mayor, Councillors, Town Clerk, and wives, and several other guests to he present at the luncheon. It was decided that His Excellency be accorded a civic reception at the Triangle, Main Street, at 11,45 a.tn.j at 11.55 proceed to school; 12.10 lunch; 1 p.m., open Anglican Bazaar. It was resolved to ask the citizens to display flags and hunting where possible, and also that shopkeepers he invited to close their business premises between 11.30 a.m. and 1.30 p.m., and to decorate their shops where possible. The erection of a platform was left in the hands of the Mayor and Town Clerk.
