BOWLING.

The question of playing bowls on Good Friday was debated at a largely attended meeting of members of the Palliatua Bowling Club. Mr Harrison’s motion, “That this meeting is in favour of Good Friday as one of the playing days for the Manawatu Bowling Centre’s tournament, and that it be an instruction to our delegates to vote accordingly,” was carried. The Feilding Club voted against such a motion.

At a meeting of the Committee of the Foxton Bowling Club on Saturday evening, it was decided to instruct the Foxton delegate to the Centre meeting to support Good Friday as one of the playing days for the Manawatu B.C. tournament.

The question as to whether the Manawatu Bowling Centre’s Easter tournament should commence on Good Friday or Easter Saturday, Avas decided at the annual meeting of the Centre yesterday. The matter Avas brought up by a deputation composed of several members of the Palmerston clergy and laymen. Mr D. Fustier moA T ed, that as the majority of the clubs are against starting the tournament on Easter Saturday, the Centre regrets it cannot accede to the request of the deputation that no play take place on Good Friday.

Mr Fastier’s motion Avas put' to the meeting, and carried by 12 votes to 4.
