Later, all the parties interested, including ex-Sister Ligouri’s brother, met at a round-tile-tabic conference at the police headquarters, /at which ex-Sister Ligouri announced that she would not go to her brother, nor to the Roman Catholic Church. Before (he conference, the ex-Sister stated that she was taken last night in a motor car to a Justice of (lie Peace, and there signed a statement that, she was prepared to go under her brother’s protection, providing he found a suitable place for her. She refrained, under her solicitor’s advice, from making any further explanation of her adventures, beyond that she was being taken somewhere when discovered. [Miss Partridge caused a sensation last year when she escaped from a convent at Wagga. Bishop Dwyer caused her apprehension as she was deemed to be insane. She was brought before the Lunacy Court in Sydney, and was discharged. Miss Partridge then sued Bishop Dwyer for £5,000 damages for alleged malicious arrest. The case caused a great sensation in Sydney, and after a lengthy hearing a verdict was given for Bishop Dwyer, the jury declaring that he was not actuated by malice.]
