AN EXTRACT FROM THE “MANAWATU HERALD,” 1879
The Manawatu Bar. —As several remarks have been made lately in disparagement: of the Manawatu Port, owing to the bar at the mouth •if the river, Captain Baseaiul, of the s.s. Sampson, authorises us to state that he has at all times found the bar to be good and easily worked. On Saturday last, the Sampson ( rossed two hours before high tide, and found eight feet of water on the bar. We would direct the attention •if the New Zealander to this statement.
