ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Wellington, Aug. 29
James Doogan, aged 21, of Greymouth, was knocked down at Petone yesterday by the lire brigade motor, and badly injured in the head and one of his legs. His condition today was slightly improved, though it is still very serious.
Theodore Woodward was charged this morning with causing grievous bodily harm to Doogan, and was remanded far eight days on bail. Invercargill, 1 esterday.
A young man named William Todd,’ son of Mr W. Todd, auctioneer, while riding at Fairlight station. was thrown from his horse and fatally injured. New Plymouth, Yesterday.
A Stocking accident occurred at Lepperton Junction on Saturday night. A man- named Joseph Flwcher, whose, father resides at Linwood, Christchurch, fell between the carriages of a moving train, and both legs were almost severed. The injured man was removed to the hospital, where he died on Sunday morning.
