DOMINION FARMERS* PROPOSALS.
MR. MASSEY’S OPINIONS
London, July 30,
Mr Massey informed the Australian Press Association that he would gladly- co-operate with New Zealand farmers in marketing produce in Europe, but it must be on a commercial basis. He was willing to help exporters to institute a shipping line, but was opposed to a State-owned line, although the State might co-operate with private enterprise. As regards the farmers’ proposal to establish retail meat shops in England, it was impracticable. One British firm alone was interested in 1,200 shops, which would compete with New Zealand shops.
