A SHOCKING FATALITY
WELL-KNOWN FARMER KILLED
BY TRAIN.
Christchurch, July 11
Mr Richard Evans, aged 78, a well-known Kaiapoi resident, while crossing the railway line to catch a train for Christchurch, was knocked down, part of ' the train passing over his legs. He_ was taken to a Kaiapoi nursiing home. Mr Evans died about midday. He was chairman of the Waimakariri Harbour Board, and a prominent member of the Farmers’ Union and other bodies.
