MAY WORKING,

The amount of gas manufactured during the month of May was 5G8,800 ft., which, with the amount in the holder on May Ist, IG,OOO ft., made a total of 584,800 ft. The amount of gas sold to consumers for lighting was 205,500 ft., for cooking 173,300 ft., power 91,000 ft., 28,800 ft. was used by street lamps, 26,500 ft. at the works and manager’s house, and there was 16,000 ft. in the holder on June Ist, leaving 541,100 .ft., representing 7.08 per cent, unaccounted for. Fifty-two tons of coal was carbonised, yielding 10,983 c. ft. per ton. The earnings for the month totalled £283 12s 7d, made up as follows: —Gas sales, lighting £.124 Gs 4d, heat and power £ll9 17s 7d, <K>ke sales £ls 17s Od, tar sales 19s, lycighing £1 3s (id, fitting account £l2 0s lid, services £ll.os 9d, miscellaneous £7 10:s Od, disinfectant Is fid, total £283 12s 7d. The expenditure for the month totalled £378 11s 4d, made up as follows: —Coal used £124 11s- Od, salaries, wages and labour £55 3s 2d. pipes (services) £lB 3s Gd, fittings £23 Gs Od, repairs £O3 19s Oil, tools £2 4.-. Id, plant £5 14s Id, retorts £l9 4s od, working expenses £4 7s 2d, engine repairs and oil £2 4s ltd, freights, wharfage and carting 2s, interest and sinking fund £59 11s 8d; total, £378 11s 4d. ‘•'The amount of gas manufactured during the month of June shows an increase of 2,000 ft, over the corresponding period of last year. The amount of gas manufactured for the 12 months ending June 30th, was 0,555,800 c. ft., compared with 5,870,500 c. ft. foi; the same period ending June 30th, 1920. This shows an increase of 079,300 c. it. Fiftyfour lons of coal was carbonised, and we sold 12 tons 10 ewt: 2 qr. of. coke, representing £32 Is 3d. Six meters were changed, these effecting a saving of 7,800 c. ft. at a nett cost of 9s 7d per 1,000 c. ft., representing the sum of £3 15. s od. The number of meters not registering last omntli totalled three. During the month, seven services have been cleared of water and sand.”*
