FOOTBALL.

A meeting of the Management Committee of the Horowhenua Rugby Union was held on Wednesday. The Manawatu Union wrote suggesting that the try-out match to pick the team to play the Springbolts bo played on Saturday, Aug-, lisa 13th, at Palmerston North, in view of the big match being fixed for the following Wednesday. It was decided, on Mr Whibley’s motion, to ask that the game be played on Wednesday, August 10th, in order that the club fixtures be not interfered with.

The Manawatu Union also asked that the boundaries between the Unions be altered ,so that the general line run from Sorenson’s store on the Bainesse road corner west to the sea coast, and east to the Manawatu River. It jvas pointed out by Mr Whibley that this would cut out about ten senior players from this Union, and it was decided that this Union object to any alteration in the boundaries. *

The Foxton Club asked to be allowed to play as a junior Rang! Almira, the well known Te Ante senior player, during his school vacation. —The request was declined. The Wanderers Junior Club entered a protest against Weraroa’s win on July 18th. Consideration of the protest was held over for further inquiries. Wanderers’ application to reinstate B. Heremaia as a junior was declined. C. J. Batten’s application for transfer from Old Boys to Otaki was declined. A Wanderers’ junior player, McKenzie, who was ordered off by the referee in the Wnnderers-Wernroa match, waited on the Union to protest- against the decision. ,fl After* hearing his version of the affair, and discussing the matter, it was unanimously decided to uphold Ihe referee’s action and to suspend the player for three months. A statement of the finances showed that to date approximately £2OO had been received from all sources, including £OO from insurances.

Mr V. Higgins was unanimously appointed secretary, vice Mr Weliipeiliana resigned, and on the Chairman’s motion a vote of appreciation was passed to Mr Wehipeihana for his valuable and efficient services, and be was granted a bonus of £5. Mr Wehipeihana suitably replied.
