MEETING OF HOROWIIENUA
UNION,
A meeting of th<f Management Committee of the Horowhenua Rugby Union was held m Mrs Walls’ rooms, Eoxton, on Thursday evening. Present: Messrs J. W. Procter (chairman), T. Dalzell, Gustofson, E. D. Whibjev, H. Rowlands, R. George, R. Ford, and AV. AVeihegihana (secretary). •
A letter was read from the New Zealand Rugby Union, sanctioning the proposal of a challenge competition between the Horowhenua, Rangifikei, Manawatu and Bush Unions for a shield presented by Mr J. Bebbington, of Levin. All (he Unions had signified their intention of competing for the Shield. The Chairman said that the Shield was in the course of manufacture, and conditions governing the competition would be drawn up next week. The following senior representative features were arranged: —Mnnawatu, at Shannon, on June 25th: Bush ,at Levin, on July (sth; and Rangitikei, at Mar ton, on July 13th. The Taranaki Union wrote, asking if Horowhenua could play Taranaki at Stratford, on Juno 23rd or 30th, and guaranteeing a return match at Levin. —It was decided to write and point out that Taranaki owed Horowhenua a visit, and that they would be pleased to play them at Levin, but that Horowhenua could not visit Taranaki this sea-
The New Zealand Union wrote advising that, the Ivuku Club had appealed against the Horowhenua Union’s decision in the Ivuku-Shannoi match. The appeal, however, wanot in order, ns it had not been sen through the Horowhenua Union and the fee of £1 was not forwarded. —It. was decided to forward tin letter to the Ivuku Club.
An application from 11. Stratford for a transfer from the Shannon Club to Eoxton, where ho now resides, was granted. An application from Fitzgerald and Larkins, who reside at Bainessec and Rangiotu respectively, to be allowed to play in the Manawatu Union, was refused. The AVaipawa Sub-Union wfiote, inviting Horowhenua to pay them a visit this year.—lt was decided to reply, advising that the Horowhenua team would not be touring in that direction this season.
The secretary (Mr Weheipehana) mentioned that owing to private business matters ho would be unable to continue bis work as secretary after July.-—The Chairman and other 'members eulogised the good work done by Mr Wokipehnna, during his term of office, and expressed regret that lie was unable to continue. The matter of the election of a successor was held over.

The following players have been nominated by the Ilorowhenua Union for inclusion in the North Island beam: —R. Moynihan and K. Dal>:cdl (forwards), W. Marshall (full back).
