FREIGHT RATES REDUCED
REDUCTION OX HEMP
A reduction has been made by overseas shipping companies in the freight rates on New Zealand hemp for shipment to the United Kingdom. The rate is now £0 10s per ton, plus 10 per cent. It was recently reduced from £ls 15s to £lO 10s, plus 10 per cent, in each case. The freight reduction on hemp is expected to materially assist the Map.awatu and other llaxmilling industries, »providing the current rates for hemp in London are maintained. The freight on oats and peas for the United Kingdom have been reduced from £4 Bs, plus? 10 per cent., to £3 Bs, plus 10 per cent. The. trade in oats for export to England is expected to be improved by these freight reductions.
