THE LUBOWSKI FAMILY.

A MUSICAL FEAST

Foxton was afforded ail opportunity last night—and will be again to-night and to-morrow night—of hearing a master violinist, a virtuoso, in the person of Master Daniel Lubowski. To listen to this marvellous lad is to enter into the spirit of the great composers, whose masterpieces he interprets with a gift which is practically amazing. Ilis items last night were the “Gipsy’s Dance” (T. Nachez), “Leginde” (H. Wieuiewski), “Gipsy Air” (P. Sarasate), “The Rosary” (Nevin), “Humoresque” (A. Dvorak), and “Souvenir” (F. Drdla). His repert oir includes works from all the famous composers, and probably he will include some of these at tonight’s concert. The family orchestra contributed the “Poet and Peasant” operatic selections, and “Beautiful Danube” waltz, which fairly captivated the audience. Miss Anna’s pianoforte solo, Prelude (Rachmaninoff) was a clever performance. The bells solo from “William Tell” overture, by Master Joe, fairly captivated the audience. The concert as a whole was an educational treat, and although the classics predominated popular and favourite items which appeal to the popular taste were not overlooked. The concert as a whole has never been surpassed locally, and we urge all lovers of good music to avail themselves of the opportunity of bearing this talented family tonight. To students, the performance is an inspiration. We understand that a change of programme will be submitted, 10-night.

We regret to slate that the accoustie properties of the Town Hall are not suitable for performances such as was given last night. The fine effects are lost to the audience in the circle unless the performer is well on to the footlights, and even then the effect is marred. Another, point, the concert would be better appreciated if put on at an earlier hour. The concert, in fairness to hour.
