ROYAL PICTURES
On Wednesday and Thursday a picture that is termed “a stage and screen classic” will head the bill-of-fare. For the reason that “The Country Cousin” is considered “a stage and screen classic” Selznick determined to secure the screen rights of that play for the charming young and beautiful star, Elaine Hammerstcin. That Mr Selznick scored a “winner” in obtaining a universally famous story so well adapted to the star’s talents and accomplishments is clearly evidenced in the manner in which Miss Hammers tein portrays the title role, and in the all-round excellence and bigness of the production. As a stage play, “The Country Cousin” contributed its full share to the attainments of the dramatic art, and to the gilt-edge entertainment of the* American people. As a screen classic, “The Country Cousin” faithfully follows the lines of the original story by Messrs Ilarkingtoii and Street, with that added colour and action which is made possible only through the magic power of the camera.
The final episode of the popular serial, “The Vanishing Dagger” will be shown at these entertainments.
