BOROUGH WORKS.
ROAD FOREMAN’S REPORT,
The Borough Foreman reported as follows at Monday night’s Borough Council meeting: —
“During the month the road stab: have been engaged on the following works: Spreading and breaking metal in Purcell Street, cleaning drains Coley, Unjon, Jenks, Purcell, Fatter Streets and Norbiton Road, trimming back sand over culvert at gas works, putting in culvert for Mr Saint, Purcell Street, and general maintenance work. Messrs Coley Bros, have completed the metalling of Purcell Street. Me are now needing metal for the various roads I mentioned in last month’s report. Having received a favourable quotation, some trucks of river metal have been ordered, but none has come to hand. During the present month we shall complete the cleaning of borough drains. Me shall proceed with the kerbing of Avenue Road footpath ns soon a.-< possible. I propose levelling up had places in various footpaths throughout the borough, and to weed the water tables where required. M’ith reference to the drains, we have not been able to complete portions of Spring Street and Purcell Street, owing to growth of noxious weeds. Reeves Street drain is a mass of gorse almost from end to end. The drain between Coley and Cook Street, which was the cause of so much trouble last year, still remains uneleaned." It was resolved that the attention of the noxious weeds inspector ho drawn to the state of weeds in the borough, and that he be asked to have notice served on owners of the properties affected, particularly in Reeve Street and Spring Street.
