CARNIVAL RESULTS.
£906 RAISED FOR BEAUTIFYING PURPOSES. GROSS RESULT, £1,139 5s Bd.
A meeting of the Finance Carnival Committee was held last night scrutinise all funds and pass the 1 balance-sheet in connection with the recent Carnival held to raise funds for town beautifying purposes. There were present Messrs Moorhouse, the Mayor (Mr John Chrystall), Poole, and Trueman (treasurer). All receipts and expenditure were carefully scrutinised, and the gross takings from all sources totalled £1,139 5s Bd, and the expenditure £233 0s 9d, leaving a nett balance to be handed over to the Beautifying Society of £906 4s lid. The detailed balance-sheet was examined and adopted, and ordered to be published. It will be noticed that the expenses incurred represent about 20 per cent, of the total receipts, which, compared with efforts of a similar nature in other parts of the Dominion, are highly satisfactory, and indicate that expenses were kept down to the lowest possible margin. The Organiser’s commission totalled £97 5s sd, which sum was exclusive of donations.
