ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Auckland, April 18. The man killed in the tram accident has been identified as James McKinnon, 75 years of age. Taihape, April 18. At the Atiahitahi sawmill a hand named Joseph Hear had a sensational experience with a twin saw. He was working at the saw bench while the saws were stationary, when the swinging belt gripped the saw pulley sufficiently to start both saws. The top saw inflicted a wound from the centre of the forehead over to the base of the skull at the buck. Tie was only saved from being cut in halves by the belt swinging off the pulley again. Mean was taken to the Taihape hospital. Wellington, April 17. Peter Hatton Miller, an elderly man of independent means, well known in Wellington, was found hanging in a outhouse attached to his residence in South Wellington this morniiig. Deceased had been in ill-henllh, and was seen by his wife shortly before he took his life. He was subsequently missed , and a search was made.
